2 Buses Donated to Handicapped in Aleppo Under Japanese Grant Assistance

Within the framework of Japan’s Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme started in Syria in 1996, Mr. Masaki Kunieda , Ambassador of Japan to the Syrian Arab Republic, signs a Japanese Grant Contract, amounting to US$ (79,295) extended to Hand in hand Association in Aleppo to finance the Project for Improvement of Transportation Services for Handicapped in Aleppo.. The signing ceremony will take place on Wednesday 24th of March, 2010 at Hand in hand Association’s handicapped rehabilitation institute in Aleppo under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Ali Manssura the Governor of Aleppo.

The Japanese Grant extended to the Association aims to provide two busses of special specifications to transport the handicapped to attend the training course in the Association. The expected beneficiaries will reach more than 200 persons per year.

It is worth mentioning that Japan, since the start of its Grassroots grant Scheme in Syria in 1996 has funded (73) projects in different fields targeting people with special needs, health sector, vocational training, environment, and others. The total amount of the so-far implemented projects in Syria within this scheme have reached US$ (3,830,597).

These new Japanese grant are tokens of friendship and distinguished relations between the Japanese and Syrian peoples.
